Agroforestry systems today are systems that use managed soil in association with several plants, always aiming at the possibility and restoration of degraded areas. The efficiency of the systems in relation to the recovery of areas that need to be recovered is something that deserves more discussion, given the challenges of reconciling productive demands with respect to ecological restoration. The objective of the present work was to discuss the use of SAFs as recuperator of degraded areas, through the literature study. Thus, it was verified that the practices used in the SAFs make possible the conservation, recovery and production, due to the dynamic biodiversity. In the study, the use of the system enables the generation of income, and environmental recovery of degraded areas, starting to characterize SAF systems as an action focused on sustainable development.
