Reading Isaiah with Luther
Hear Isaiah's promises through Luther's pastoral lens and discover where a troubled conscience finds lasting peace.
What shapes your conscience? Cultural pressures, personal failures, false teaching, and the constant demand to justify yourself all compete for your trust. Yet Isaiah speaks a better word. Through promises of Immanuel, the Suffering Servant, living water, and the new creation, the prophet directs sinners away from themselves and toward the saving work of Christ.
In Reading Isaiah with Luther, Brian L. Kachelmeier guides readers through key passages of Isaiah alongside insights from Martin Luther's lectures and commentaries. Combining biblical exposition, historical perspective, and pastoral application, this study explores how God forms and comforts the conscience through His Word.
As Isaiah confronts idolatry, unbelief, fear, and self-made righteousness, readers encounter the God who comes to save His people. Luther's reflections bring fresh clarity to Isaiah's message, showing how the prophet's promises find their fulfillment in Jesus Christ.
