Deep down in the ocean, where big blue waves sway,
Rawry's brave Daddy sails far, far away.
He rides in a submarine, quiet and grand,
Protecting the sea while his boy's on the land.
When Daddy goes under the waves for a while,
It can be kind of tricky for Rawry to smile.
His belly feels bumpy, his heart feels so blue,
He misses his Daddy-and that's okay, too
Mommy says, "Rawry, it's fine if you're sad,
Or lonely, or messy, or confused, or mad.
Feelings are visitors coming to stay,
They hang out a bit, and then float away."
They read stories at bedtime and hug stuffed toys tight,
Remembering Daddy is safe in the night.
Though a month-or much longer-is hard to remember,
Rawry has to navigate his emotions with patience and tender.
His Daddy's a hero, it's true as can be,
Exploring the depths of the shadowy sea.
