Wonderful Method for Seaking Mental Health Care

The consumers approach to finding a therapist is most often a disaster. Robert Langs reduces the confusion and illuminates the problems. Most therapist will not be comfortable with his observations of how therapy is usually abused. This is formost a book for the consumer. The approach is similar to "What Color is Your Parachute," the undisputed tome for job hunters. First research and decide the type of therapy you want to try. Second interview five or so of the best qualified therapist in your area according to their own professional association listings. Finally use a checklist, your impressions and even your dreams the following night to evualate your experience. The benefit is that when such an approach is made then one can relax, trust even more and give oneself to the process more completely. The problem for therapist is that this process puts the consumer in control to a degree never before imagined. The profession is practiced behind closed doors without oversight and is often abused. Needy people are by nature vulnerable to manipulation by the therapist consciously or unconsciously. As Freud mentions, some of truth available to us will never be popular because there are things we are not able to face. Many therapist and patients are not interested in liberation and revelation. Patients are often interested in creating a facimilie of a falied past. That would not be a problem if more therapist were better trained, but often they are playing out their own failed pasts. Most therapist become entangled in their patients lives and the only solution is to exit stage left, so to speak, after years of chit chat or abuse.Buy this out of print book and you will come to treasure it.
