71 year old, was born and raised in Harlem and the Bronx, NewYork. Saundra grew up poor, with loving parents, living in the projects for eighteen years with Dad, a civil servant and Mom, a stay at home mother to me and my three sisters, with life being fun, joyful and happy. Saundra lived in Washington Heights for 20 years after becoming a Registered Nurse and Dietitian. Saundra is married to Italian-American husband, Peter Tesoriere, also a Registered Nurse. She had 50 years as a Registered Nurse and 35 years as well as a Registered Dietitian-Nutritionist by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Despite having lifelong dyslexia, she has a Masters Degree from NYU. She has been writing poetry since the fourth grade, as a result of playing 'rhyming Simon' with her Mom. Retired, she now lives in Tucson, AZ. Saundra understands suffering as she has been living with diagnoses of multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia, and chronic sciatica with the related physical pain. She has found some relief and comfort in writing poetry. At times, she has so much pain and discomfort that she wants to compose a poem fast. So she developed a fast way to get her thoughts down - four lines at a time. Saundra aka STaR (her initials). She is an ordained minister, an advanced Toastmaster, a certified image consultant and is a multi award winning, published poet.
