In this classic tale, a young rancher struggles to hold his claim after a daring holdup and murder. This description may be from another edition of this product.
From decades back (1941) comes this book by "John Trace", one pen name of Bennett Foster, a writer of many westerns. Earlier last year Dorchester Publishing had released another book by John Trace, TRIGGER VENGEANCE, which has sold out in most places one would care to look. This newer book, RANGE OF GOLDEN HOOFS, was originally released back then in hardcover by Doubleday Doran and Company, which later gave birth to the DD Westerns of more contemporary times. Anyway, this western is well written offering us Dan Shea coming to New Mexico Territory with a "wealthy rancher with a beautiful daughter" in his future but also a holdup and murder. Dan's future begins to look rather bleak. Or as the blurb on the back cover states "Where gold is found, trouble follows." I receive these westerns from Dorchester Publishing through their western bookclub, 4 books each month, have for years, and one thing I admire is that they republish material such as this book from past decades that would be lost if not for their republishing. This month they are starting to reissue the Lassiter books by Jack Slade (Todhunter Ballard) too. This book is just another in their publishing triumphs for those of us who enjoy the availability of "older" westerns. Semper Fi.
