In 1970s rural West Texas, 12-year-old Lindy Logan has big dreams. She wants to become the next Karen Carpenter. She strives to acclimate to a new 7th grade class. And she fantasizes about killing her little sister, Jo. But all of these desires lead to her biggest dream of all - acquiring her momma's unconditional love. Because Momma was once second runner-up in the Miss Texas pageant and twice named Most Beautiful of Turnip High School, Lindy is certain the path to becoming Momma's favorite child is for Lindy to become famous herself. The only obstacle is 8-year-old Jo, a dead-ringer for the gorgeous Liz Taylor, seeking her own conduit to fame. If Jo gains fame first, Momma will focus all her love on her youngest, and Lindy's greatest fear will be realized - that she is a nobody. In Raggedy Ann Heart, the Logan sisters deal with budding hormones, imaginary friends, and even Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, all the while competing with each other for the ultimate prize - Momma's love.
This is the story of two sisters, Lindy Logan and her sister Jo. Lindy did not want a baby sister, just her doll and her mama. Her mother promised she would love her just as much as the new baby, but it was quite evident who her mother loved best. Jo was everything Lindy was not, beautiful, perfect and she looked like her mother. Jo wanted nothing more than to be a model, like her mother, Lindy wanted nothing more than her mother's love. When they moved to the farm their world changed. The television and old movies became their link to the world their mother loved. When their mother gets sick will she learn the value of showing equal love between the two girls? This is an excellent story of two girls, who, although they both prefer different ways to live their life, they have one thing in common. They want and need their mother's love. It was easy to fall right into the midst of this story and become involved with the characters. The plot has a powerful message, one many will relate to. This book will keep the reader entertained from the beginning to the end, whether you are a young adult or a grandmother.

This story brought up emotions of family, made me laugh, cry and surprised me with twists and turns. I was so involved with the characters, that when I finished reading I felt like they were my family. A sequel is what I need to bring them back.
