Quick Baby Knits by Debbie Bliss

I have many Debbie Bliss knitting books, including patterns for kids. This one is a great addition and her designs are always special (even the easy ones), well thought out and make a great baby gift.

Classy, stylish baby clothes

I found this collection of patterns very refreshing. After finding such a wealth of "quick knitting" patterns that call for large needles and chunky acrylic yarn (yielding, in my opinion, ugly and cheap-looking baby clothes), it's nice to see patterns for beautiful, classy, stylish baby clothes created at a fine gauge suitable to a small body. I also love the color choices shown in the photographs, as well as the use of natural fiber yarns like wool and cotton. Of course, the knitter can use whatever color and fiber he/she chooses, but I appreciate the inspiration to knit for babies using colors other than pastels and gaudy brights and fibers other than acrylic. I'm eagerly awaiting the next Bliss book!

I have a number of books on knitting for children. I have found that this one is my favorite so far. In Bliss's other books, unfortunately for me, there was just too much to do--I couldn't get them done while the baby was still small (I was trying to make them for gifts!) I began to wonder why I would put so much effort into something to be worn for so short a time--and my time is precious as a working single mom! Thank heavens for this one! The designs are simple, yet elegant and/or classic, and charming. They work up fairly easily. I made an alpaca/silk cardigan with a zig-zag edging for my step-grandbaby, and her parents loved it! This is a book I have already used for several items. I still like some other books, but this one is just so useful.

One of my favorite knitting books

This book has beautiful patterns that consistently turn out well for me. I have made several of the sweaters and the only caveat is that, as with all Debbie Bliss patterns, they are big for their size. Eventually I will have to order another copy of this book since mine is dog eared and well worn by now!
