Ok book about cave paintings

Good picture books about cave paintings that actually tell a story are hard to come by. This is a decent book, but not the the best. The story is ok and talks about dealing with your fears. I do wish, however, that the artist had put a little more details about how they made the paintings. The illustrations are what I had a problem with. They are very dark, sketchy and smudged, and it's hard to see details. I would almost say that they look messy. I understand the look the artist was going for, but in my experience, children respond better to pictures that are bright and colorful. Also, some of the pictures are scary loooking. I really think that this book is more appropriate for older children.
