Qigong Medicine

Officially, there are only two medical systems in China. One is Western (Conventional) Medicine and the other is Traditional Chinese Medicine. Using Q gōng to treat illnesses is called Q gōng Therapy. Because many Q gōng Therapy methods are evolved from the Traditional Chinese Medicine's (TCM) methods of treating illnesses, many people consider Q gōng Therapy as a branch of TCM. In fact, many TCM books have detailed descriptions on using various Q gōng methods in treatments. Although many theories such as Yīn-Y ng theory, and Meridian theory are the same in both TCM and Q gōng, TCM and Q gōng Therapy do not belong to the same system. They each have their own unique approach in diagnosis and treatment.
Q (Q gōng) diagnosis requires Q intuition and Q application ability. Not all practitioners are able to acquire the ability to perform Q diagnosis. On the other hand, Q treatment can be done by practicing Q gōng or using External Q . Therefore, Q gōng treatment with Q diagnosis is called Q gōng Medicine, without Q diagnosis it is called Q gōng Therapy, which is widely used in TCM. There are many writings on Q gōng therapy, but not on the theory or diagnostic methods.
This book has seven chapters, the first five chapters describe Q gōng Medicine's theories, diagnostic methods, treatments and training methods. Q diagnosis requires Q intuition and Q application ability, and these abilities are obtained through Q gōng training for most practitioners. The outcome of the Q therapy is dependent on the practitioner's Q cultivation (the quality and quantity of Q they possess). Therefore, the first five chapters of this book contain many detailed training methods in both diagnosis and treatments. Chapter Six focuses on Zh n ng Q gōng External Q Treatment. Using Nature Q instead of one's Dānti n Q to facilitate healing is an innovative approach; it is a hallmark of Zh n ng Q gōng. Chapter Seven describes the causes and the preventions of some Q reactions and Q sensations one may experience when one practices Q gōng and meditation.
