Quirky, evocative historical novel

My first read of this author, will pursue more. Adept with prose, skilled portrayal in quick strokes of diverse characters. Bizarre premise — dismantling a centuries-old cemetery. Miller’s evocation of smell and texture is notable, reminds me of Steven Price’s By Gaslight. Appealing story arc with satisfying and believable ending. I’m a fan of both historical fiction and fantasy, and Miller hits a sweet spot between (and closer to history).
