Promoting social dialogue

This study on social dialogue seeks to promote it with the aim of improving academic results. The key takeaway is that the State, through the school administration, must attach importance to the trade unions and other partners involved in upper secondary schools. Conversely, the trade unions must regard and recognise the school administration as the decision-making body. We conducted the study amongst seven (07) headteachers, fourteen (14) teachers, seven (07) trade union representatives, eight (08) other members of the school administration, five (05) staff representatives, five (05) parents' association chairpersons and fourteen (14) pupils. This sample comprises a total of sixty (60) individuals. From the results obtained, we conclude that social dialogue facilitates the development of constructive interactions that lead to consensus or compromises acceptable to all. Furthermore, it helps to prevent conflicts and misunderstandings and to harness everyone's skills to achieve common objectives. In short, promoting social dialogue in secondary schools can serve as a springboard for achieving satisfactory results.
