Promises Reveal

Evie Washington might have more spunk than her small town can handle, but she might be just right for Reverend Brad Swanson. Causing another scandal, Evie may be forced to marry the reverend to save both of their reputations- something neither wants. Evie isn't the only one with problems though. Brad's hiding a secret. One he's sure will drive Evie away from him, so he's keeping her at arms length. Brad's finding it difficult to keep his heart from Evie though. She fits him like a glove. When his past comes back to haunt him, he may lose Evie, whether he wants to or not. Fans of Sarah McCarty's Promises series will love Promises Reveal. We finally get the scoop on the Rev! And Asa, Clint, Cougar, and their wonderful wives play big roles in the story as well. Brad is calm, cool, and collected, all the time. The one word used to describe Evie over and over is unconventional, and she is. She's stubborn and smart, opinionated and sassy, and she's unique for her time. She's a great character. Some action, some angst, some romance, and some very hot sex fill the pages of Promises Reveal. It's full of hot memorable moments. Like when Brad takes his bride to the church for some sinfully good discipline. Promises Reveal tells a good story while revealing a bit about another one. I am dying to read about Gray and Brenna! Woo Hoo, A Sexy Preacher

For fans of Sarah McCarty's Promise series, this story about the Reverend Brad is possibly the most anticipated book she's ever written. It certainly was for me. From the first Promise book, the irreverent preacher has been much loved. He has met his perfect match in Evie, the unconventional artist. As a person deeply involved with faith and religion, I very much appreciated Brad's occasional comments to God. This ex-outlaw was living the gospel even though he didn't realize it. Not that this is in any way implied in the story. First and foremost this is a romance. There is no preaching. Well, actually there is and, boy, did the Rev let it fly, along with his fists! We could all do with a similar wake-up call to get more involved in caring for one another. But this is not a "Christian" romance - it is erotic as only Sarah McCarty can write it. Promises Reveal was funnier than I remember Ms. McCarty's books being. I laughed in so many places throughout the book, mostly at Evie's shenanigans. And there were a few places that were so poignant I got tears in my eyes. It was a joy to revisit Cattle Crossing and all the characters from the previous Promise books. It is a wonderful community of characters who band together and support one another. Ms. McCarty has given the reader glimpses of some other characters who should also be given their own Promise story - Millie, Elijah, Nidia, Gray, Brenna and Jackson. Now I'm inspired to go back and read the other books again.

Loved this book!!!

I loved this book b/c it was funny and steamy hot! I really liked how this book characterized all the secondary characters from previous books and really let their personalities shine along with the hero and the heroine. I couldn't put it down and I can't wait for Jackson's story!

exhilarating western romance

Reverend Brad Swanson thought he would be caught one day for his criminal activities like robbing banks, but never this way. Posing as a preacher, he is in hiding from the law and his former gang whom he recently betrayed to save some lives as the robber has a code of ethics especially when it comes to women and children. However, his troubles with the McKinnely clan are ironically not of his making. Instead the suffragette daughter Evie Washington finds the Reverend to be kind and supportive of her women's liberation ideals. She paints a portrait without a face of a naked hunk; whom she admits is Brad. Everyone assumes he took her so shotguns point at him as he says I do to a woman who he never planned to marry. As they make love and fall in love, his past comes home to roost. Few writers can match the skill of Sarah McCarty' when it comes to providing her audience with an intelligent exhilarating western romance starring two likable protagonists. The fast-paced story line hooks the audience when Evie's imagination runs wild and never slows down as Brad encourages Evie to be all she can be. Fans will enjoy this delightful nineteenth century historical as the criminal preacher and the feminist libber find love. Harriet Klausner

The story of how an itty, bitty portrait landed one girl a great, big husband....

Evie Washington was just trying to prove a point when she hung the nude portrait up of Reverand Brad Swanson. Unfortunately, her bid for independence backfires quite horribly and she's forced to the altar with no regard for her feelings or her sense of pride. Brad Swanson has sworn that he never touched Evie and he swears if he had, she wouldn't have painted ridiculously tiny genitals on his portrait, but no one believes him and he's prodded to the wedding by the bride's mother and a shotgun. If nothing else, he's going to show Miss Evie that she has some really big misconceptions about him, least of all, his reputation as a staid, God fearing reverend. The marriage between Evie and Brad starts out hesitantly, yet hopefully, but Brad is harboring a secret identity and when a man rides into town who knows all about him, he's unable to hold up the farce any longer. He vows to protect Evie and the town that had welcomed him wholeheartedly, but when the dust settles he's determined to move on, just as he always has. Evie refuses to let him face his demons alone and with the same tenacity and spirit that landed them in matrimony, she and the town are going to do their best to show their beloved reverend that he's not as alone as he thinks he is. Promises Reveal starts off right away with the wedding, and we're thrown right into the mix of things with plenty of hugely entertaining characters. I've never read any of Sarah McCarty's Promises books before and I've never met any of these returning characters, but the brief glimpses I did get were a hoot. The wedding scenes were funny and the wedding night was equally funny and extremely sexy. Even more sexy was the encounter the day after the wedding and all I can say is, Holy $@%!! Brad was a hot, dominating male and his position as the reverend made their sexual romps all the more naughty. Evie was a cute, flighty female with a penchant for painting and the continued bit about the portrait was really entertaining. There wasn't much going on with regards to an actual plot. Since I've never read previous Promises books I can't say, but I can only assume Brad has met up with the villain of this book before. We're thrown into the story of the villain with little warning and quite frankly, I didn't know what the heck was going on. It was okay, because the flowing interactions with the townspeople was what I thought made this book absolutely charming and enchanting. Having no clue who the wedding guests were and having minimal introduction, I absolutely loved reading the first few chapters, and every chapter afterwards. Sarah McCarty has a talent for spinning a good tale and her sex scenes were scorching! I highly recommend this book as an excellent read despite any failings in regards to plot. Even without it, I still really, really enjoyed this book for the laughter and charm it invoked. Enjoy!!
