If you enjoyed the anime story but didn't like the ending than this book will be an enjoyable alternative story. If you did not dislike the anime stories ending you may find this entertaining as an alternative telling. I was hoping for something more from the story but with only two volumes...well... the story is left open for further development.

Watch the anime first!

Watch the anime first. Do not underestimate the anime. Do not lead yourself astray with the common misconception that the manga is always "the original, hence the best". Such is not the case this time. The fact is, they're both good. The story and everything associated therein is top-notch whichever media you choose. The anime has color and music; the manga does not. However, as GM Jun-ichi Satoh admonishes, "I want all of you to forget about your basic assumptions and enjoy the world of Princess Tutu!" I am a man. I am twenty-one. I work in a chocolate factory. I like Nightwish. And still I am moved nearly to tears by each and every episode/chapter of Princess Tutu. What does that tell you...? That it is good? Yes. It tells you that it is good. Stop looking at me like that.

Princess Tutu dances her way into the hearts of fans

Princess Tutu, while at first glance appears to be your typical girly manga, is a rather deep and symbolic love story. Ahiru, a little duckling, uses the power of a pendant to transform into Princess Tutu to help the prince, Mytho, regain the pieces of his heart. But the storyline doesn't just stop there. With a rival (Rue aka Princess Kraehe), an undead storyteller on the loose, strange ballet classmates, and a cat for a teacher, Ahiru may have her work cut out for her! And what's with her turning back into a duck every time she accidentally says "quack"?! Based on the fairy-tale like town in Northern Europe, follow Ahiru on her path to win the heart of the prince... But beware. The cute art, exquisite plotline, and deep meaning really makes you addicted!
