Professor Asahina isn't a very good teacher. Rumor has it that he spends hisnights at love hotels with a different partner every night and he has been knownto come to class drunk on occasion. When one of his students, Yuasa, finds afilm of him having sex with an unknown lady in a love hotel, things get a littlesticky. Yuasa promises to help Professor Asahina hunt down the tape and keep hissecret safe, but for a price. Yuasa is known to associate with men and has hadhis eyes on Professor Asahina for a while.
R. Parklane's review is excellent. Mitsuru Asahina is no Prince Charming. He's slutty, and self-centered, and attractive to both men and women besides being a teacher. Hitoshi Yuasa, a student, falls for him the moment he sees him and determines to make him his. Now the complications ensue. Keii Nagai has been in love with Yuasa for years. When Nagai confesses his love to Yuasa, it strains the friendship. Yoshi Kagami, a fellow student and my favorite character, also has a thing for Asahina. Kagami is also a player, devious and crafty, opportunistic, but also intelligent, aware, and caring to his friends. As Asahina struggles with sorting out his new life, Yuasa moves into his apartment with Kagami and Nagai as frequent guests. Kagami attempts to seduce Asahina, and the interplay between the four is entertaining. When Asahina goes to a gay bar, Kagami cleverly prevents his exploitation by thugs; however, his act of kindness backfires in book 2. There's sex, but nothing explicit. What I found interesting was the interplay between the four characters, plus other minor characters like Neesan at the club, and another teacher at Asahina's school. Asahina treads on dangerous ground having an affair with a student. This is not a romantic novel (like Where Has Love Gone? or Future Lovers), but shows how confusing things can be as they try to find their place. I enjoyed all three volumes. This kind of reminds me of Kiss All the Boys, but I like this one better.

Complex relationship between a sensei and his students.

There is much more to this story than the usual sensei-student love. Asahina is one confused sensei as he tries to deny his sexuality by making love to one woman after another. It does not help that he could only come with a woman by "fingering" himself. He is forced out of the closet by one aggressive student named Yuasa all out to prove his love for his sensei. Yuasa has 2 fellow student buddies, Nagai and Kagami, who are also gay. They frequent a gay club and the encounters in the club is pretty interesting. They may be young but these 3 close friends are confident of their sexuality unlike the confused Asahina. The dynamics among Asahina and his 3 students are complex. Yuasa loves Asahina. Asahina seems to have a thing for Kagami. Meanwhile Nagai is in love with Yuasa. I hope the mangaka will continue to explore this possibly quadrangle relationship in Vol 2 and not take the easy way out. However I do not like the artwork which I find rather plain. And the sex could be better drawn though explicit in a few panels with rimming and fingering. Still a good read and I look forward to Volume 2.
