Enter Ami Won, Korean girl-next-door. Normal in every way. But that's okay. Life is weird enough around her. Her doting daddy's just been elected to office. Her mom isn't her mom, but her firey young "auntie" (master of running everyone else's life). Other girls have puppies. Ami has a bodyguard-- Fahrenheit, master of deadly force and dressing in drag, ever at her heels. If that wasn't enough, her potential boyfriend just happens to be the son of a national enemy. Despite the title, President Dad has little to do with politics. Ami's Dad may as well be a celebrity or president of a corporation than the nation of Korea. It's a plot device for a fish-out-of-water story, exploring how an ordinary girl adapts to the drastic changes in her life. All Ami wants is a date with her pop idol, and to get through the next day at school. But with the media constantly on her, and with the position of First Lady vacant, both her other aunt and coldly manipulative cousin are vying for the national eye. Still, it's more gag than drama, with the stakes fairly low, and the angst factor set at decidedly normal. The art style is simpler than I like, but fits the constant sight-gags. The plot could use some development; too many characters were crammed into the first book without exploring any of them in detail, and little is known about Ami's past. However, it's nice to read a shojo manga that has the protagonist's family solidly in her court instead of a churning angst-mill of conflict (Ami's daddy is adorable). And to see a mom-type who's not just a joke yelling orders and packing school lunches, but a capable person. Instead of lamely taking her aunt and cousin's crap, with her aunt and Fahrenheit's help, Ami has the potential to come solidly into her own, stand tall and set an example for shy girls everywhere. I've only one complaint. Right... left.... Right.... Left.... Arghk! Choose a side to begin your books on, Tokyo Pop!

Ami Won is just a innocent little freshman who thinks she's just average. *lol* Little does she know she's anything but! Her dad ,Ho-Chan Won, had just been elected THE president of Korea, and since her mother died when she was very young it's her job to become the first lady. Her aunt, Bi-Na, will do anything to grab the position of first lady for herself. Luckily Ami's mother hired a bodyguard name Fahrenheit to watch over Ami when she died. Now, in the midst of such high-profile drama, Ami still has to go to school and be a good student. A role model actually since she IS after all the first lady. Unfortunately, after Bi-Na loses hope of obtaining that role she tries to push her niece Ba-Na (not bI-na) for candidate. After a few months Ami's duties are piling up, and she's more confused than ever! Do I bow to this minister? Huh? I have to use the LEFT fork while eating meat? I thought it was the right one! Well, there are like 9 anyway. @_@ I know i'd be exhausted! (7 volumes)
