Midwestern librarian Letitia Thornquist didn't have the right stuff to run Thornquist Gear, Inc. That was the bottom-line opinion of Joel Blackstone, the seasoned CEO who had built the small Seattle... This description may be from another edition of this product.
"Perfect Partners" is a wonderfully rich story! JAK had me chuckling from start to finish. JAK furthermore has mastered storytelling by keeping the story narrow in scope (ie. tight and lucid), but exploring every aspect of that scope. Here in "Perfect Partners" we have Letty Thornquist, an ex-librarian from Indiana. She has come to Seattle in order to claim her inheritance - Thornquist Gear, a successful corporation (which by the way reminds me of REI) that CEO Joel Blackstone practically created from start to finish. Joel Thornquist is royally pissed about her arrival. Letty's uncle had after all promised to sell Joel the company before his untimely death. Since Joel has proprietary feelings toward Thornquist Gear, he sets out to show Letty who is the boss, but in attempting to do so, falls hard for Letty. "Perfect Partners" also has a wonderful cast of secondary characters. They include the arrogant and obtuse Professor Phillip Dixon who doesn't take the hint that Letty is over him until he walks in on a deja vu kind of scene; Stephanie Thornquist, a sophisticated and superficially blonde ice-maiden who cracks under the pressure of pregnancy; Arthur Bigley, Letty's harried and socially awkward executive assistant and so on. This book like so many of JAK's books is a must read. For other excellent JAK books, I recommend: "Wildest Hearts;" "Trust Me," "Family Man," "Grand Passion," "Sweet Fortune," and "Hidden Talents,"
You have to Love JAK's writing style...

JAK has a unique writing style that I absolutely love! It just seems to me people either love her or hate her! I grab her books wherever I can find them, and they stay on my keeper shelf labeled: "Comfort Books." Her hero's are very "Alpha," and her heroines just hysterical! Joel has built the heroine's Uncle's company from the Ground floor and has arranged to buy him out, but before he can, Uncle Charlie dies and has willed his company to his midwestern librarian niece Letty. She feels this is exactly the sort of change her life needs. Joel's outraged but stuck with Letty who is serious about her new position in the sporting good company. Meanwhile he's in the middle of a revenge plot against an old adversary and doesn't want Letty to stand in the way. They have a bickering attraction to one another in pure JAK style. They do address each other as Mr. Blackstone and Ms. Thornquist occasionally, as another reviewer complained about. It's not that JAK is in the "Dark Ages." It's all part of the humorous struggle between the two. Granted some of these books do date back over ten years. Along the way is Letty's stubborn ex-fiancé who just adds more humor to the tale. This is one of my favorite JAK's. Keep in mind; it's just fun fiction! I'll even admit that I might slap a restraining order on some of her hero's if it were real life. So you know where my taste lie, it might help further to know that some of my favorite authors are Julie Garwood, Amanda Quick (a.k.a. Jayne Ann Krentz), Gaelen Foley, Lavyrle Spencer, Dorothy Garlock, Linda Howard, Christine Feehan, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Kinley MacGregor, Susan Anderson, Rebecca York, Lauren Bach, Nora Roberts, Kathleen E. Woodiwiss, and Karen Robards. Just to name a few...Hope this is helpful.
I loved the main characters with its realistic plot.

I like reading about smart intelligent women and intelligent men. The plot was very realistic also. I also love happy endings and this was a story with one.

Excellent characterizations. A clever, imperfect heroine, a hero you can fall in love with, and a satisfying plot. What more can you ask?
Loved it!

Joel and Letty were witty and wonderful. This book, like all Ms. Krentz's, has a mix of romance, humor, and family. If you like witty dialog and well-drawn charactors, you will love this book. Almost as good as her book Wildest Dreams, which is #1 in my mind and heart.
