Penguins don't dream! And, they can't fly either, but in this zany story from the bestselling author and artist team who created 'Olive, the Other Reindeer,' anything goes! Before the alarm sings ding-a-ling, one special penguin finds himself flying up, up, up and away. On his journey through space and sky, he meets some wacky winged characters, then lands head first in a penguin paradise. Was it real or was it all a dream?
While perhaps not for those who want a very traditional children's story about penguins, etc., this book has been a big hit in our household. Its somewhat disconnected images and text are not in a linear story--they're meant to give the sense of a dream. And they're well done.

I love Seibold. My wife loves him. My little daughter will (she's too young). The thing with Mr. J. Otto Seibold is not that his books are beautiful. They're smart too. In my opinion, there's no other name in children's picture books. Not even Maira Kalman. Seibold is a true artist, using Adobe Illustrator. I only wish he publishes more. For instance, where's the book "Bubblesoup"? Aha! You can get it online at [his web site], it's just incredible. This one, with music, sound, and action, my little daughter already loves.

Finally a book by the fantastic author/illustrator duo of Walsh/Seibold that is aimed at 4 - 8 year old children. My two kids (4 and 5) beg to have this book read over and over. They can read the story to me and the stroy makes perfect sense to them!
Baby loves it!

My 8.5 mo old son finds this book so enticing I can't leave it lying around, he makes excited noises every time I turn a page. He has no to mild interest in most other books. The only negative is that many adult readers stumble over Chongo Chingi's name. I think the odd detail in the illustrations will likely hold the interest of an older toddler or preschooler too, unlike most books suitable for small babies. I like the offbeat style which is a refreshing change from so many pastel or primary colored children's books.
Chongo Chingi is fantastic!

The illustrations and imagery in this book are fantastic -- whimsical, hallucinatory and totally unique. Children will enjoy, but so will adults. This is an imaginative, and darling book -- BUY IT!
