Exploding onto the world stage in 1991 with their astounding, multi-platinum debut, Ten, Pearl Jam courted controversy and conflict from the start. The pressures of fame soon began to take their toll, on the fragile Vedder in particular. Martin Clarke brings the band s tumultuous history to life from their beginnings amidst Seattle s grunge underground, through the excesses of superstardom, to their current incarnation as mature rock heavyweights.
I purchased this book for a friend- who is a HUGE Pearl Jam fan. He has not read it yet but has skimmed through- he did comment that the pics of Vedder and of the band are great. If you are a Pearl Jam fan- I recommend this book for your collection, if you like Pearl Jam and don't know a lot about Vedder or the bands history- I would recommend it to get some details.

I loved the way he put into words the emotions spent by the group through out the ordeal with Nirvana. He gave me something more to look for in thier music. Something personal and unique, that devides them from other groups.
Very informative about the history and lives of bandmembers.
