Sweet Home Alabama Deja Vu

Leaving Carolina by Tamara Leigh is Sweet Home Alabama all over again. Luckily, I loved the Reese Witherspoon movie so I enjoyed Leaving Carolina. In Leaving Carolina, the main character leaves her past and her hometown in the South when she runs away to the big city, changes her name and loses her accent. More than a decade later, circumstances force her to return home where she has to face the demons from her childhood . . . and possibly discovers romance while she's at it. Leaving Carolina is a fun, light read with a theme of healing childhood wounds, forgiveness and finding your authentic self.

Vintage Tamara Leigh!

Tamara Leigh sets the standard in chick-lit for the soul and has raised the bar once again with Leaving Carolina. Infused with genuine wit, emotional depth and always appealing main players, this novel entertained and delighted from beginning to end. Tamara has an intuitive gift for the first person voice and it is on full display as her inimitable Piper Wick attempts to keep her carefully constructed life from falling into disarray. Piper's conscience comes in the rather attractive yet marred form of enigmatic gardener Axel Smith, a singularly intriguing character and now one of my favourite leading men. Tamara's trademark snappy dialogue, palpable attraction and spiritual message make this a blissful read. Leaving Carolina is the first in Tamara's Southern Comfort series and the knowledge of more Pickwick tales to come made my day!

I LOVED IT!

I'm a HUGE Tamara Leigh fan (if you see a weird lady walking down the street with a TAMARA LEIGH FAN CLUB T-shirt on... that'd be me! And no, we aren't related and she doesn't pay me for the opportunity!) Leaving Carolina totally lived up to my high expectations of a Tammy Leigh book! It was funny, insightful, quirky, and had just the right amount of romance. I love her characters, they are different and unique but also totally relatable. Piper was such a fun character, and I loved her attitude and am giddy (okay fine, horribly impatient) to read Maggie's story next! I'm a huge believer that the best books make you laugh a lot, cry a little, and make you to... 'Hmmmm... I need to work on that'. Leaving Carolina did just that! Two thumbs up from moi! -krista phillips

Remembering Carolina

Leaving Carolina I can't begin to say how happy I was when Tamara Leigh released another book, especially set in a state that, though I haven't been there in a long time, holds lovely memories of when I was a child visiting my grandparents. Tamara Leigh depicts what I remember so well growing up, calling up many memories, right down to the smell of walking into my grandparents home. I received my book as a gift, as my sister always picks up a copy for herself and me when a new Tamara Leigh book is released. I received it late Friday. As Tamara has a way of getting you into the story and making you feel like a fly on the wall, I commited a full day to starting and finishing the book. And so, bright and early Saturday morning, with all teenagers sleeping in, I picked up Leaving Carolina and didn't put it down for 6 hours--even when my 18-year-old pleaded for fast food! I love how Tamara Leigh presents Christianity. You can feel her faith in every book, even her early medieval romances written for the secular market. She keeps me interested until the very end...only to tease me with news that another book is on the way! Thankfully, Tamara doesn't end her books on cliffhangers, so I guess I can wait. It's wonderful to see how one changes through her writing and continues to inspire even those that question their faith. Thanks Tamara Leigh, for another great read. I look forward to the next book in the series. Teresa Simi Valley

Can I move to Pickwick?

It has been since Jan Karon's Mitford series that I have looked so forward to hearing more from the Carolinas! With a town full of people like Tamera Leigh introduced me to in Leaving Carolina, I would be entertained daily! There are lots of people you'd want to spend more time with in this book. The characters are interesting and personal; I can see them as well as if I ran into them every day in town. The story is fun with some twists and questions that are answered in a timely fashion. Although there are some questions I think will have to wait until the next two books about this family! Sometimes authors will drag out the main `unknown' until you just don't care anymore, but not here. Yes, you do wonder what will happen and are unhappy to set it down to fix dinner, but little bits get answered and new questions arise; keeping you reading just one more chapter.... I believe I have read every one of Tamera Leigh's books and this is my favorite! Although I had never read romances, a friend recommended Tamera Leigh's novels. I began reading her historical romances books because I am a history buff and I enjoyed the research she put into them. It was fun having faces and personalities given to the long ago times I had studied. I always felt like I really knew the time, place and people when I finished one. Her most recent books are set in modern times, but the feeling is the same! You finish having a full picture of the characters, their personalities, background, and location.
