Lots and Lots of Great Tips

This book has some very good tips such as a very good photo instruction on using a bias tape maker. I have had one for many years but never used it because it was so much trouble. This picture instructional makes using one very easy so I am going to give it a try. Basting Glue is another tool I have never used and by reading how Ms. Sloan uses it, I will be sure to pick up a bottle on my next trip to the quilt store. The Mock Appliqué use of Blind Hem Stitching was yet another tip I hadn't thought of. I always used a zigzag or satin stitch!! These three tips are in the first 12 pages of this book. Keep reading for lots more great ideas on how to make your quilting faster and easier. There are nine patterns to try these tips on and they include full sized templates if needed. Wall hangings, quilts, table runners and totes are the types of projects to make. There is a section on hand quilting, marking the quilt and the best thread type to use. There is even a section on "making new fabric". Since I have sewn all my scrap fabrics together and called it "new fabric" for many years, I was glad to see a known teacher was supporting the idea. The last chapter is called Calendar Quilts. What a great idea, 12 sections to represent each month. Or 365 sections to represent a year. You could even got with different "ages" of your or a friends life and make a quilt that represents that information. Of course, there is more information but you will have to get a copy to read all of it. Add one to your library today.
