Verry cool book and its shows how much radio technology has advanced and things have gotten smaller

The book is wonderful and the quality is superb.I got the book because its 30 yrs old and it's cool to see how radio tec.and electronics in general have advanced.

I love this book

I love reading this yearly published guide / book. it tells it like it is, damn the advertisers. if they think a radio is junk, they say it. its well researched, well layed out, super informative and a hoot to read. The bible of world band radio. buy it and you will be hooked every year.

THE guide to shortwave listening!

I've been SWLing (shortwave listening) since I was about 8 years old. Even though there are a lot of internet resources out there for finding shortwave frequencies and broadcast times, none are as user-friendly and well designed as this book. It is your "TV Guide" to all things shortwave. In addition to the broadcast guide, Passport also has the best radio reviews, beginner's guide and articles about shortwave broadcasters around the world. If you are new to SWLing, or have just purchased a radio for someone else, the Passport to World Band Radio is a must!

Consistently the best shortwave publication

I've been buying "Passport" about every two years for the last ten or twelve years. This is without a doubt, consistently the best publication on the market for the shortwave amateur and enthusiast alike.

Newbie Likes

I'm new to shortwave listening and I found this book to be very practical and useful. The feature articles are interesting, the equipment reviews helpful, and the list of terminology and definitions (Worldly Words) is great. I will definitely buy the 2009 edition as well.

IBS Delivers Again

Once again, the folks at International Broadcasting Services, Ltd. have delivered a high-quality, usable shortwave listening guide. The 2008 edition of "Passport" contains a fresh round of candid reviews of portable, recordable, emergency, laptop, table-top, professional and PC receivers, wire and compact antennas and 2008's "Top Ten" radio programmes. The feature articles this year discuss Casbah and Trans World Radio. The 2008 edition provides updated versions of "Passport's" various resources. The propagation condition forecasts have been updated, as has the ever-popular hourly listing of the major international English broadcasts around the world and around the clock. There's also helpful information in the section for new listeners entitled "Quick Start", and the "Worldly Words" glossary provides useful definitions of many of the terms that tend to enter the vocabularies of shortwave listeners (for instance, it settled for me whether the plural is antennas or antennae, and helped me understand why dual conversion is a good thing). "Passport" also offers plenty of other helpful information, such as the addresses of the major international broadcasting stations and the famous frequency-by-frequency list of broadcasts known as the "blue pages. The fact that they managed to cram all this into 592 legible pages is, in my opinion, quite a feat. I can see now why "Passport" is considered one of the top listening guides for world radio.
