Book Overview

The South Asian land we now call Pakistan has been home to different groups and civilizations since ancient times, but it did not become its own nation until it was separated from India by the British in 1947. Readers dive deep into Pakistan's past as they explore the relationship between history and contemporary culture. Focused chapters highlight Pakistan's geography, religious groups, government, and more, and readers also develop a strong sense of what daily life is like for Pakistani people. Recipes, fact boxes, sidebars, maps, and colorful photographs add to this enlightening reading experience.

A Truly Islamic Republic

I have read and looked at this book about 20 times from my local library, and I have to say this is a good book about Pakistan. This book talks about the main religions of Pakistan: Islam 97%, Hinduism 1.8%, and Christianity 1.6%. Other subjects include how many languages are spoken in Pakistan: Urdu, Punjabi, Sindhi, Baluchi, and English.
