The story follows Siegfried Eugen Schmidt, a modest and ordinary man, who is chosen by a superior entity called Alp - a mysterious being who prowls the hills of the Alps (from which he derives his name). Thanks to this choice, Siegfried gains the ability to perceive and access the deep mysteries of the world beyond everyday reality. The narrative explores themes of parallel worlds, reincarnations, and elements of surrealism, combining philosophical, disturbing, and fascinating visions. Alp's interventions and speeches ("rants") serve as a guide and revelation, delighting the reader while unsettling, and exposing an alternative perspective on existence and the universe. In essence, it is an introspective and metaphysical plot where an ordinary individual becomes a privileged witness to hidden realities.
