Life for the average American high schooler is simpler, more stress-free. The biggest day-to-day concern for most high school girls is whether or not their hair is straight enough.

Danni Wells is a Junior in high school, and trying to maintain her under-the-radar trajectory. In her small town on the East Coast, she has gone to school with almost all of the same people since kindergarten, and has been able to mostly avoid the drama. That's because while most people have to worry about a mean girl in the school hallways, Danni's "mean girl" takes up residence in her own head.
