This story is a historical fiction, based on three characters, Uncle Jake, Aunt Sallie and Uncle Doby, who came to central Florida as early pioneers in 1883. As with any pioneer, they faced moments of danger from the deep creeks and untamed swamps; but, they also had fun times living the simple life. Many of the events are true, but all could have happened considering the location and the time period. It should be very helpful to the students of pioneer history.
