This creation has undoubtedly more character than any book I've ever laid eyes on. Although I found it dusty and covered in fossilized cockroach poo among my late Grandma's cook books she left to me, thankfully when I said 'This is covered in cocky poo!', my aunty replied 'Oooh keep that' as she gazed at the yellow cover. I endeavoured to just browse through it one day, yet I found I could not put it down. The personable handwritten soul and character spoke to me from the USA of the early 1970s. Even though some information is irrelevant to me (I was born in the late 1970s and I live in urban Australia and I don't have a woodfire oven or an apple press), the timelessness of human ingenuity lives in this book. There are many recipes and hints I have tested and tried and given 10/10 to. I cherish the self-sufficient attitude of the authors and contributors. I love the deserted farmhouse description by the Indian on the first page. Thank you for your cook books, Grandma. Thank you for this creation, Cindy and Elizabeth.
