And a little child shall lead them

I first read this book in 1959 and am now buying it for my grandchildren. Of course for those who believe no proof is necessary and for those who don't believe no proof is sufficient. Having said that, this book is a heartwarming story of the innocent faith of children, the miracles bestowed by the Blessed Mother through her son and the task she asks them to undertake for Him. The plain fact that faith brings pain & problems even for children is explained in a wholesome way that will allow for family discussion. The solution is love. The story is straightforward, such facts as can be established are easily referenced in this day of the internet. I consider myself an amateur "Mariologist" and this is one of the few apparitions in which I believe completely. If you want to introduce your children to the mystical side of Christianity & Catholicism in particular, this is a wonderful book to begin with. It illustrates not simply the "miracles", but also gives a sense of the Communist aura in Portugal immediately preceding the Russian Revolution. It makes plain the struggle between Communism & Christianity in terms that children can understand. Since it does reference violent threats made against the seers by the town mayor, I suggest that you give this book to older children with whom you can discuss this - perhaps 9 or 10 & above. This book is a great gift and will fill their hearts with knowledge of love, faith & protection from the Queen of Heaven (and Homemakers).
