I realize a lot of people said this book had a bad plot but I liked it. I haven't read that many graphic novels but all of them I have read seem to have disjointed plots so that was how I thought it was supposed to be. I thought part of the fun was supposed to be puzzling out what happened. The first time reading through the book, I really did not understand a lot of things, but the second time through I think I made sense of it - for the most part. I do agree the protagonist is whiny and self-centered but I find her likable anyhow. I suppose if you have ever been an angstful teen who annoyed others with your whining, you will probably relate to her in some way. I will not give too much away about the plot but I will mention some vague things. I saw one complaint that the relationship of the two main characters is not developed enough but in my mind that was purposeful. They do not have a relationship - the girl just finds the guy alluring and mysterious. Perhaps she is obsessed with him *because* he is not obsessed with her. I also don't think the end is an act of sacrifice. The art of course is amazing. I find the style really interesting and dreamlike.
Gorgeous artwork, depressing story

If you're looking for a good story, look elsewhere--this is just depressing, disjointed, and doesn't make much sense. But if you want inspiration as an artist--wow, this book is impressive! Moody blues and blurry blackgrounds get punctuated with the sharp detail of a face or hand--almost feels like you are drunk, with images swirling around uncontrollably until you get a clear glimpse of one object.. This is pretty amazing artwork--would purchase the book for the images alone.

Beautiful Artwork

The first thing you notice, and one of the main reasons I bought it, is that the artwork in Orange is absolutely amazing. The entire book is in colour, and the pictures have a well balanced mix of rough and well-detailed images. The storyline is fairly easy to follow and is well matched with the pictures. It's a bit morbid for my tastes, but I still really enjoyed it. Very worthwhile for the price!
