Optimistic Outlook

This work has ideas drawn from a wide constituency of futurists.It explains the various forces which will govern the directionof the world into the next 100 years or more. The world population will grow to beyond 10 billion people. This growthwill put strains on many of the infrastructure systems now inplace. The authors describe the transition from worldagrarian societies to the technological age and the conceptof a global village. The authors foresee challenges despite an overall optimisticoutlook. These are the ecology, worldwide epidemics (AIDS etc.),drug-resistent viruses and the existing modern weaponry.In addition, the world needs to control scarce resourcesby utilizing more rational methodologies to identifyvaluable resources and allocate them optimally. Lastly,the authors point to the re-shaping of the hierarchicalorganizations after several thousand years of classicsuperstructures i.e. Roman Empire, Prince Metternich ...In addition, the authors have explained the tremendousmigration of jobs into the service industries and awayfrom manufacturing. Ultimately, there will be a permanentmigration of jobs into the knowledge-based industries.
