What an interesting read! Tom wrote beautifully about his involvement in the Panama Canal project while weaving in inspiring principles for moving through life rather than becoming "stuck" and stagnant. The principles apply not only in the business world but in private life as well. There is an overriding enthusiasm in his writing style that is contagious and he has spurred me to seizing opportunities. Write on, Tom!
New ideas and an easy read!

It usually takes me forever to finish a "business principals" type book but Opportunity Unstuck! was so easy to read and so interesting because of the Panama storylike structure that I flew through it! The book gave me some new principals that I had never considered useful in a business setting. The examples of how these principals related to the Panamanian Expansion Project helped me see how they can be used in real life. Not to mention that I learned some very interesting information about the Panama canal, the history of it's construction, the expansion project, and Panama itself. I would highly recommend this book to anyone in any work capacity, not only management.

I had the privilege of reading an early draft of the book at a time when I was also deeply involved in studying for my MBA. This book clearly builds on the best management principles and does so while telling a personal story that illustrates more than mere project management. The history lessons were well woven into the present day view of the culture in Panama, along with how leaders over the past 100 years or so have dealt with the complexity of the Canal Zone. It is a fun read that still carries solid pointers for the novice manager or a great refresher for seasoned veterans. I definitely recommend the book.

I liked how this book talked about using principles to take your career to the next level using the Panama Canal as the backdrop. The part about how the original canal was built was told in a very unboring way, and the author's involvement in the present expansion provides insight that few people could provide.
