Open to Outcome is AWESOME!

Mari and Micah are masters! This book and the process of the 5 questions will change your teaching and your life. There are practical applications for these techniques in many areas, both in the classroom and out. Micah and Mari are skilled writers, facilitators, and practitioners. I would recommend this book to anyone in education or facilitation and coaching.

A great primer on Experiential Education

This book is recommended on the website of the Association for Experiential Education (www.aee.org). I found this book to be a tremendous overview and primer for those looking to improve their experiential facilitation skills. The book is easy to understand and concise, yet comprehensive in touching upon all the important areas of facilitating experiential education. "The 5 Questions" model and "yes/and, no/but, yes/but" techniques are great for ones facilitation toolkit.

This is great stuff!

This book takes what is often presented as very difficult material and makes it approachable and usable. It has helped me immensely in my teaching and training experiences.

Simple, wise model for teachers and group facilitators

Ruddy and Jacobsen live the principles at the heart of experiential learning and articulate them in a way that can be applied with versatility in any group context. There is an emphasis on coaching rather than 'teaching', which fits really well with experiential learning. The "5 Questions" model for debriefing experiences with a group is an easily understood and accessed touchstone to help facilitators stay on point, stay in close relationship with their group, and remain open to learning themselves. I will be recommending this book to those I work with and those I train.
