Book Overview

OP Amps deliberately straddles that imaginary line between the technician and engineering worlds. Topics are carefully addressed on three levels: operational overview, numerical analysis, and design... This description may be from another edition of this product.

I would give this book TWELVE STARS if it was possible, not five.

I would give this book TWELVE STARS if it was possible, not five. It's not often that a reader encounters a book that provides a "clearer insight" into how an op amp circuit works. Either the text is too theoretical--rehashing what others have already stated with little insight (which, to me, is plagiarism "repackaged")--or it's watered down to the point where we fail to gain further insight. This author, on the other hand, has done a wonderful job of planting "gold nuggets" in every chapter--every chapter. It is his insight that is commonly NOT shared between senior engineers to "newbies" in industry. I am speaking through experience from senior engineers who have hoarded information to themselves. I applaud the author for his effort in writing this book and hope to see more from him. He now has an audience that's willing to pay. Hint. My only wish is that other authors would follow his method of writing. Only a few authors are emerging (e.g., Bonnie Baker, Clive Maxfield--both supremely wonderful authors). That's where the money is, folks. Readers are interested in useful insight, for practical application--not something too theoretical that it becomes "useless" in the consumer electronics, medical,..., or defense industry. May our Lord bless this author and his family.

The best book I have found on op amp design

This is by far the best book on op amp design. It does a fantastic job not only describing the fine details of the op amp but gives practical design examples of each configuration. I was finally able to grasp concepts that I had great difficulty following for over thirty years. I would definitely recommend this book to beginners on the subject of op amp circuit design.

Very good resource

This book has been an excellent help for me in my studies. The chapters are clear and concise. The diagrams are well drawn and the examples used provide further understanding of the subject matter.

Excellent Book, Nice Examples for Op-Amps

You don't need to look very hard to find some good examples in this book. The author has done a great job with the layout in the book. The methods for design and component selection are excellent. The math is always there, but not overly difficult. Some chapters I have skiped over, while others I have read 3 or 4 times. The approach the author takes to constructing active filters takes minimal effort with reasonable results for any design.Troubleshooting op-amp circuits is not always easy, but David Terrell explains details from the manufacturer data sheets which commonly fail amoung alot of the different families of op-amps. Some of the technical points are brief, but are helpful in all cases where your using them.I buy alot of engineering books each year. There's no myth or magic when designing with op-amps, but everthing you wanted to know is here.
