At last, the Grand Line!

Eiichiro Oda, One Piece: The Legend Begins (ViZ, 2000) It's finally here-- Luffy and Co. are about to breach the Grand Line. But in order to do so, they have to sail over a mountain. Can it be done? And what's waiting for them on the other side? As usual, Oda's come up with a fun, action-packed volume that leaves me wanting more at the end. Great stuff, this. ****

Volume 12 of One Piece sees the Straw Hat crew escape from Smoker and Buggy in Roguetown and enter the Grand Line. But sailing up Reverse Mountain is just the start of the wonders and dangers they will experience. Finally! From this point on the stakes are higher, and the characters become increasingly bizzare. This volume includes story elements that 4Kids cut with their botched edits, including a sympathetic whale named Laboon and some vital information concerning navigation through the Grand Line.
