Award-winner for sure!

What a charming and delightful book - agree completely with the previous reviewer. Dori's rhymes are not only sweet and gentle, and the story a simple, but delightful one, but, get ready...the words and rhymes make sense and sound as natural as normal speech. It teaches caring and generosity as when four bobwhite quail say: if you're looking for someplace to rest, we have a nice hollow and if you will follow, we think we have room for a guest. And then the author has incorporated a wonderful counting exercise in the story to boot! Pham's drawings invite you to not only read the book, but hang it on the wall. I would be surprised if this did not win many awards. The descriptions says 4-5, but based on my kids, I'd say 3-6, as it touches kids on many levels - rhymes, art, animals, counting, sharing. I will certainly look for other books by this author/illustrator.

A PERFECT PICTURE BOOK!

When one little mouse goes in search of a new place to sleep, what does he find? Two moles, three frogs, four quail, and a forest full of animals willing to open their hearts and homes to him. But like most travelers, this little mouse finds there is no place like home. This rhyming counting book is so much fun, my kids want to hear it again and again. Chaconas's enchanting rhymes carry the reader along on the mouse's adventure. Pham's art is absolutely adorable and I found myself ooh-ing and ahh-ing over each page. This is one mouse I would open my doors to!
