One Last Chance

Axel Mulligan was built to be a Coast Guard rescue swimmer. He swam fast and endured long, a miracle for those in peril--until a tragedy sent him home to Alaska. Now, three years later, he's not going to let the past repeat itself. As an Air One rescue swimmer, he'll do anything to save lives--including sacrifice his own.

He expects to do just that while trying to rescue a group of tourists from the icy waters of the Gulf of Alaska. But if not for the voice on the other end of the ham radio, he might have given up and let hypothermia win. That voice awakened something in his heart, and he sets out to find the woman it belongs to.

Flynn Turnquist is not who Axel thinks she is. A national wildlife researcher, she's deep in the bush, tracking wolf pack patterns. Or is she? In fact, she's a former cop, tracking down a serial killer. She nearly had him--until he escaped into the wilds of the Alaska bush.

When Axel finds Flynn and discovers what she's really up to, it stirs up a terrible nightmare he's been dodging for years--the kidnapping and death of his own cousin. Worse, he's led the killer right to her doorstep. Now, it's a race through Alaska to stay alive. And when tragedy strikes again, he must choose between rescue or redemption.

A Great Alaskan Adventure

From the moment Flynn picks up Axel’s radio SOS, the chemistry between them kept getting better and better. They worked well together as they searched for Flynn’s missing sister and the infamous Midnight Sun serial killer. Flynn was a strong female character with common sense, but she wasn’t one of those women that tried to do everything alone. She let Axel help her. Axel’s selflessness was very touching. The descriptions of the Alaska wilderness are vivid, and Warren painted scenes that I could see in my mind. A master at romance as well as suspense, Warren created just the right amount of sizzle between Axel and Flynn. The story kept me guessing and had a nice faith element. It was hard to put it down and is definitely a super read.

another epic adventure

"Faith isn't weakness. Faith is aligning yourself with true power. True control." Alaska Air One Rescue keeps getting better and better with each book. I loved Axel and his dedication for search and rescue. His heroic heart was so easy to love. And walking through his faith journey of learning to let go of control and not dwelling on the past was a great reminder of who really is in control. Flynn was as intense as Axel - experienced in hunting down serial killers but also desperately missing her twin sister who is deemed missing. The battles they waged against the mighty rivers in Alaska were fueled by adrenaline and the suspense surrounding a serial killer on the loose was fast-paced and intricately woven. Axel and Flynn were so lovely together and their romance was tender and sweet even when their moments were peppered with life-threatening danger. I loved hanging out with Moose and can't wait for the next book in the series! There are so many cameo appearances of characters from the author's other books that I've lost count. If you're a fan of Susan May Warren, you will pick up on every single one of them and appreciate them whole-heartedly.
