It was 1953, Terry Curran Croquer and her family, moved from a city in Ohio to a Wilderness area of Venezuela called Puerto Ordaz. The wilderness area was at the confluence of two major rivers and close to a Venezuelan jungle. The family would be living in the area where an American company, in agreement with Venezuela, would mine the valuable iron ore from a large mountain, build two communities while providing the Venezuelan worker with an opportunity to have a home for his family and more. What would life be like for Terry living in Venezuela, a Venezuela she knew nothing about? Would a girl from Ohio grow to love Venezuela? Terry did treasure her life in Venezuela but she also cherished her life in America. A life filled with happy times and difficult times.
