Book Overview

Once Upon A Time In Connecticut is a historical novel written by Caroline Clifford Newton. The book takes place in the early 1800s in Connecticut and follows the story of a young girl named Sarah. Sarah is the daughter of a wealthy merchant and leads a privileged life, but she is not content with her sheltered existence. She longs for adventure and excitement, and her wish is granted when she meets a group of traveling actors. Sarah becomes enamored with the theater and begins to participate in productions herself. However, her newfound passion is not without its challenges. Sarah's father disapproves of her involvement in the theater, and she must navigate the social conventions of the time to pursue her dreams. Along the way, Sarah learns important lessons about love, friendship, and the importance of following one's heart. Once Upon A Time In Connecticut is a charming and engaging tale that transports readers to a bygone era while exploring timeless themes of identity, self-discovery, and personal growth.Nearly one hundred years after the Declaration of Independence the tail of King George's horse was dug up on a farm in Wilton, Connecticut, and a piece of his saddle was found there at about the same time. The tradition in Wilton is that the ox-cart carrying the broken statue passed through Wilton on its way to Litchfield, and that the saddle and the tail were thrown away there. Just why, no one knows; perhaps the load was too heavy; possibly--some people think--because it was found that they were not of pure lead and could not be used to make bullets. Most of the statue, however, seems to have reached Litchfield safely. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
