An Avalon Career Romance

Kansas City policewoman, Lucky McCall, and her bloodhound have found lost children, strayed older people, and victims of crime. Lucky has been waiting for months for her assignment to a criminal case where she and Cosmo, the bloodhound, can show their full abilities. She gets an assignment deep in the Ozarks wild-land near the Missouri and Arkansas borders. A little girl is lost. She and Cosmo search and soon discover the possibly the little girl was kidnapped. The terrain, the elements, good and bad police work and the steady, reliable, remarkable abilities of bloodhounds to find and follow a scent make for exciting reading. Then, there is Forest Service officer, Kingston Wynn, who comes along to "protect" them and ends up just trying to keep up. It was Phyllises first published novel and is exemplary of her skill in telling a quick and exciting tale that weaves in technicalities and love and always focuses on her beloved Ozarks.
