Lottie Simmons, a modern day city girl, is suddenly transported back in time to a reimagined Wild West. Dumped into a dry riverbed, drunk and afraid, she is immediately met with misfortune in the form of a flash flood. Luckily for Lottie, dark and mysterious Killian Sinclair is nearby to help. He takes her to a town called Deadbite and promptly...abandons her.

Left to fend for herself against an unknown place and time, as well as a rich man who won't keep his hands to himself, Lottie has to find a way to survive. Determined to get home, she starts a solo journey with her horse, Coyote Bait, to investigate the riverbed. On the way there, she saves a woman named Serenity. At the riverbed, it becomes clear to Lottie there was no going home. Serenity devises a plan to get Lottie out of Deadbite and help her find a safe place to live.
