Columbus Day will be observed in this year on Monday, October 10, 2022.

Every schoolchild is aware that Christopher Columbus "sailed the ocean blue" in 1492, making an incredible trip halfway around the world, only to come upon what is now known as America. He made the mistake of referring to the locals as Indians since he believed he had landed in India (now known as, um, Native Americans.)

Despite the uncertainty, the finding altered the path of human history.
