C'est chouette!

Although some of the cultural references are somewhat out of date, this is an excellent French textbook for brushing up on your French. It does not cover much French grammar. You won't get beyond the passé composé in verb tenses. But I did like the Cultural Insight (photo essays) on various countries in the francophone world. I was able to expand my vocabulary on nationalities, names of languages, and geography based on those essays. You can also buy the teacher's edition, and some of the workbooks, for far less than a current French textbook.
