A memoir of cancerIn Nothing to Fear, Larry Burkett tells his personal journey of a seven-year battle with cancer. Filled with intimate stories and wisdom from the Word, this book will be a great help... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I read this book as a follow-up to the author's first book, "Hope When it Hurts", which I also read recently. This book was published in 2003. Larry Burkett died 7/4/2003. Mr. Burkett's feelings come through in the pages of Nothing to Fear. At times light-hearted, at times very serious, at times on a mission, this book radiates the emotions of someone going through this horrible disease. Yet, he also encourages the cancer patient to have faith and trust in God. He also suggests looking at alternative therapies, which he believed helped him to have a better quality of life. I especially liked his facetious explanation of the aliens establishing fast-food restaurants in 1947 so that when they return they will have a fattened food supply. I do recommend this book to any cancer patient as well as their close family members. If I had been in his situation I don't think I would've gone to all the expense of therapy and would be more inclined to modify my diet more than he was willing to do, but that's just me. I say this not as a cancer patient, but as someone who has gone through extreme dietary changes in order to remedy other life-threatening diseases. In addition to this book I highly recommend the book entitled, The China Study, as well as Eat to Live, and Eat for Health by Dr. Joel Fuhrman [...]. I was very blessed by this book and am very glad to have spent the time reading both his books. They will by one of my first recommendations to any cancer patient I cross paths with. Thank you Burkett family for publishing these books. I feel I know more of who Larry was and my respect for him has grown. He was a wonderful man and I am sure he is missed by many.
Here's To Inspiration!

Hello. I recently sent this book to a friend who was preparing to go into surgery to remove cancer from his colon. Needless to say he was very apprehensive about the procedure and actually felt like his time on this earth had come to its natural end. Last night, I got the great news that the surgery went well and my friend is resting comfortably. His brother told me this book helped tremendously and gave my friend the hope and inspiration he needed as he prepared for this dreadful cancer removal procedure. There's nothing like direct, positive feedback. God bless my friend and here's too many more years of good living!
