Sam Graham is a college film student in Los Angeles. While cleaning out his elderly grandfather, Matt's house, Sam finds a copy of Demonology, a sought-after silent horror film from 1928, thought to have been lost due to nitrate deterioration. Sam's great-grandfather, Herman, starred in Demonology. The movie was based on the book of the same name, written by Dieter Klein, an avowed Satanist. Demonology's plot revolves around a shy, plain woman who is given the chance to become an alluring movie star. But the price is steep. She must provide the devil with souls or perish. Sam decides to use the film's history and restoration as his senior project. But the restoration also revives the life of its deceased star, Blanche Cole, who died in a fiery car crash on the last day of shooting. Sam discovers that the film is cursed. And Blanche is dangerous, with the ability to control fire. Those who get in her way are burned alive. The reincarnated actress wants to revive her career, but she also desires Sam. She will stop at nothing to get her way. Sam must find a way to stop her or risk losing his soul and joining her in the twilight world she inhabits.
