Don't waste your money

Night World

I remember reading my first Night World book in my secondary school library about ten years ago, and thinking it was the best series I'd read since The Famous Five. It's no longer my favourite series (hello, Twilight), but I still love it, and I think a lot of today's supernatural fiction owes a big thank you to L. J. Smith's fantastic imagination. Night World: The Ultimate Fan Guide is a must-read for fans of these books, and is an entertaining compendium of facts, figures, quizzes and information. I patrticularly like the original US cover gallery, and the interview with L. J. herself. It's fascinating to get an insight into her mind, and her letter to the fans is nothing but sincere. You'll be a Night World expert by the time you finish this book and, after reading the Strange Fate excerpt at the back, no doubt you'll be counting down to its release just like I am. Everything you ever wanted to know about the characters and creatures is present in this fan guide, and I can't wait to see if a similar Vampire Diaries volume will follow.

Definite fun read

I'm surprised that no one reviewed this yet. I read it earlier today, and it came as a surprise that it was actually quite enjoyable. The guide book comes with all that you need to know as far as the history of the Night World and its' members are concerned. There is also a couple of quizzes included in the book, and also a foreword written by none other than L.J. Smith herself, and while you're at it, there are a few pages also where she answers the readers' question. There's pages of tidbits of what you need to know about witches, ghouls, shape shifters, and vampires, their origins, and more pages dedicated to a bit of a Q and A session. To top it off, the Night World guide book also includes a chapter except from the upcoming NW book, Strange Fate. As being a long-time reader of L.J. Smith, I absolute recommend this book to all those who want to brush up on their Night World history.
