Next of Kin

By Ron Simonian

THE STAGE PLAY EDITION

Three estranged siblings return home to throw their mother a surprise birthday party. There is only one problem: she has been dead for three years.

As past and present collide, Don, Karen, and Joey are forced to confront the family history they have spent their lives avoiding-and the father who helped create it. Their attempts to understand what happened become a fiercely funny, painfully human reckoning with guilt, abandonment, forgiveness, and the absurd ways families fail to communicate.

Darkly comic and unexpectedly moving, NEXT OF KIN explores the people who know us best, wound us deepest, and remain impossible to leave behind.

"These scenes are savagely funny."
-The Pitch

"A unique comedy."
