A beautiful story

Elaine Littau's "Nan's Journey" is the touching story of two children escaping the violence of an abusive home. Nan and her younger brother, Elmer, brave the elements and harsh wilderness in search of a better life. This novel deserved a better editor. Elaine Littau tells a beautiful story with characters that invest the reader emotionally in the book. But, instead of being able to really savor the tale, I found myself mentally correcting grammar and typos. Thankfully, I recognized the author's talent and persisted. Re-reading passages, I was able to really fall for these leading characters, making their enemies my enemies and their friends my friends. This would make a good book club read as well as an entertaining film!

I want a sequel

Nan's journey was an I am not putting this book down kind of read. caught up in an array of likeable and not so likeable characters, an instant bonding to Nan and her journey demands a sequel. A story that will take your heart on a journey along with Nan! Nan and her baby brother Elmer embark on a life changing , life saving adventure with twists and turns that leave you breathless. And then, what will happen next? I can't wait to see.

Avid reader curious for more

The story opens on a young girl faced with a difficult decision. She has confronted minimal food, back-breaking labor and painful beatings, and now she sees her tormenter's eyes straying to her younger brother. Their escape and subsiquent adventures kept me turning the pages well into the night! I prize any novel that can keep me thinking about the characters after I close the book and this one delivers. Mrs. Littau's understanding of the human heart's desire for God is well-worded and well-delivered. As a librarian and avid reader, I highly recommend this book.

Nan's Journey

Nan's Journey is an awesome book....it tells the story of a young brother and teenage sister who plan their escape from an abusive home. It shows the power of God's love and forgiveness in the worst situations.

Excellent book!

Nan's Journey follows the story of two orphaned children who suffer horrible abuse at the hands of the people who are supposed to love them. Desperate to save her brother's life, Nan plans their escape undercover of night. They head out into an uncertain world with no knowledge of what to do or where to go. Elmer is comforted by the his belief that God is watching over them but Nan, whose heart has been hardened by their circumstances, finds that possibility much harder to accept. Nan's Journey is action packed and Elaine Littau has done an excellent job of skillfully weaving God's message of forgiveness and redemption throughout. Her novel brims with hope, stressing that no matter what circumstances we encounter, God's forgiveness is abundant and available. Anne Kimberly, author of Dark Well of Decision
