Naked Vengeance

Eve Morgan is a suspended federal agent on a mission. She is out to find the man that murdered her policeman father, and reciprocate the same brand of justice. That is the only reason she would demean herself to become a stripper in the same club that claimed her father's life. She knows she is getting close, and making someone nervous because she is receiving veiled threats. When Nick Shaffer shows up claiming he was sent to help her, she is skeptical. Nick feels as if this mission is a way to redeem himself. When it counted, he failed to protect his contact at the last takedown that took place at this club. Eve made no secret that she neither needed nor wanted his help even when he revealed her old boss had hired him. She tolerated his presence, but made sure he knew she was running this operation. They had another obstacle to overcome in order to work together. There was instant attraction between them, but they mutually agreed they would table any consummation until the threat was removed. The duo was kidding themselves, and gave into the lust that was always present between them. As the threats against Eve escalated, and they found themselves dodging bullets, Nick swore he would do anything to ensure her safety. They both cared too much, and were both holding back crucial information to the investigation. When all hell breaks loose, and the distinction between enemy and friend blurs, Nick just hopes they will both make it out alive. This is my first read by this author, but definitely not my last. Nick and Eve are engaging characters that are well written, and have a suspenseful story to tell. This emotional story has it all, and great erotic scenes to boot!

Going undercover at a strip club to find her father's killer, Eve is ready and willing to do anything to get to the bottom of his murder. She is at the point of her undercover investigation where she is getting close to discovering who killed her father when in strolls Nick Shaffer, supposedly her new bodyguard. Nick Shaffer has been hired by his friend Grady to protect Eve Morgan. Although Eve is fighting him every step of the way, Nick is relentless in his pursuit of fulfilling his obligations. He refuses to allow her to talk him out of his protection. Especially since his conscience won't let him. Last time he was on a mission someone died and Nick has to make amends, even at the price of losing Eve. Eve and Nick, while together because of Nick's status, keep secrets from each other. Secrets that would help each of them but in their own stubbornness they keep silent. Which in turn could be deadly. Having never read Sophia Rae, I anxiously opened NAKED VENGEANCE and began to read. Hours later I was stunned. Simply and completely stunned at the raw emotions and totally enticing scenarios of this novel. Eve and Nick could have been anyone I know, their characterizations were so realistic. The sexual tension each experienced for the other was over the top hot and made me yearn for more. I love Nick's bullheadedness to protect Eve even when she wanted him gone. His bravery and loyalty was apparent even if he didn't feel that way. Eve was sassy and bold and I love how she pushed herself to achieve her goal - finding her father's killer. Sophia Rae has me hooked on her work with NAKED VENGEANCE. I look forward to reading more from this relatively new author!
