From the back of the book: NAEYC's accreditation system has always been characterized by the involvement of a broad array of stakeholders and other dedicated to young children, families, and early childhood education. This book, which marks the first decade of NAEYC accreditation, continues that collarborative tradition. The book addresses three broad themes: accreditation's effects on program quality and outcomes for children; lessons learned from accreditation intiatives; and the relationships between accreditation and public policy. The reflections in this volume suggest that major accomplishments have been achieved, but that much more remains to be done to meet the goal of high-quality programs for all young children, adequate compensation to staff, and afforable access for all families.
