Mystics, Me, and Moby: A Spiritual Road Trip

Mystics, Me, and Moby traverses the treacherous path through environmental illness, forced retirement psychological wounds, and divorce, to being blessed by mystical insights. As she sought spiritual and physical healing, the author was given a mission to act as a vessel for, and be a presence of God's love. Seeking to understand what was unfolding within her, she was led to travel the USA interviewing people of many spiritual paths. After a heartbreaking divorce, she embarked on intense psychotherapy that quickly became a spiritual journey filled with significant dreams, visions and voices, sudden insights and a gradual movement from fear toward love......Then she became ill with chemical sensitivities when her workplace became toxic after extensive remodeling. Forced to leave her job as a business research librarian, suddenly she had no income, no structure to her life; all her plans for the future and her joy in the present disappeared. She was afraid, angry, and wondered how she would keep on paying her rent......During a winter of solitude she prayed and meditated, sang hymns, journaled, wrote poetry, and attended a small, quiet Quaker meeting on Cape Cod. Linda was given the gift of a profound and long lasting mystical perception of God as Love, as the oneness and harmony of everything that exists. It was then that her mission in life was revealed and she received the leading to travel and to learn more about spiritual development. .....Traveling on faith in a small motor home, Linda Lee randomly asked people if they knew anyone who had mystical experiences and was spiritually aware. She easily found and interviewed 108 people. Included in Mystics, Me, and Moby are a Lakota sun dancer, a Sufi couple, a Catholic Priest, a transgendered woman, energy healers, and a generous representation of Quakers. She visited a federal prison, a mosque, a mission, as she drove Moby across this land of wild beauty and endless variety. She is a Quaker and so the spiritual experiences of several Quakers are included. Arlo Guthrie and the Dalai Lama make brief appearances, the former interviewed on the steps of his bus after a concert in New Jersey, the latter observed during a large lecture at UCLA. .....One of the best known Sunday school songs is Jesus loves me, this I know, The experience of unconditional love is the light that shines throughout this book.
